Apple Torte

Apple Torte

Easy to make, and delicious company dessert.


  • 3/4 to 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 30 or more apple slices, if smaller pan use less (see photo below)
  • Sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon for topping


Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Cream the sugar and butter in a bowl.  Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and eggs and beat well. 

Step 3

Spoon the batter into a springform pan of 8,9 or 10 inches.  Place the apple halves in a pattern on top of the batter (see photo)

Step 4

Sprinkle lightly with sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon.  Bake 1 hour and remove. Cool to lukewarm and serve plain. with ice cream or whipped cream.  (picture below was in a 10 inch pan)

During apple season, always look forward to making this yummy torte. It has a cream cheese layer and apples galore.
